Marvel Comics Legend Stan Lee Buys in Hollywood Hills

The comic book king scores a new pad after selling another at a loss.

Spider-Man may be a tried-and-true New Yorker, but his creator Stan Lee is a devoted Californian. In November, the titan behind Spider-Man, The Incredible Hulk, X-Men, and a boatload of other hot superheroes demonstrated he didn’t have the same Spidey-Sense for real estate that he does for comics when he was forced to sell his 2,458-square-foot Hollywood Hills pad for $2.8 million, according to the Los Angeles Times.

That price was a tough loss, seeing as the 92-year-old bought the West Hollywood mansion for $3.6 million in 2006. The four-bedroom, six-bathroom gated home situated on a cul-de-sac was originally listed for $3.7 million but eventually sank all the way down to $2.8 mil. What can we say? Even superheroes can’t dominate this real estate market, folks.

Luckily, Stan won’t be in financial ruin any day soon, as experts say the king of comics is worth tens of millions of dollars. Case in point: He just picked up this new contemporary-style pad off Sunset Strip for a cool $4.4 million. This luxurious home, which has four bedrooms and seven bathrooms, also features such amenities as a remodeled chef’s kitchen, formal dining room, professional-grade movie theater, and expansive floor plan. And seeing as this is Hollywood, naturally Lee’s new crash pad comes complete with a pool in the backyard, as well as a spa and patio — which is perfect for when he invites Peter Parker, Gwen Stacy, and Aunt May over for cocktails to celebrate Marvel’s 75th anniversary.

Just last week, Lee proved to be as rich in family as he is in money when he rang in his 92nd birthday surrounded by friends and family, including his daughter, J.C., who presented him with a beautiful, fruit-adorned cake. And we have to say, Mr. Lee is looking pretty good for his age. Maybe reading all those comic books keeps him young?
