Paul Oakenfold Buys Second Home in Hollywood Hills

Life is good for the superstar DJ.

Techno king Paul Oakenfold just snagged a four-bed, four-bath estate just off the Sunset Strip for $2.965 million.

Located in in the Hollywood Hills, the home is nestled within Los Angeles’ tony Outpost Estates, a large neighborhood that big names like Salma Hayek, Jason Statham, and Bryce Dallas Howard have also called home.

The midcentury post-and-beam home is a true architectural treasure, designed by legendary architect Robert Boyle. (Boyle, by the way, was Alfred Hitchcock’s chief production designer. Not too shabby a resume.)

Built in 1953, the 2,825-square-foot home boasts an open floor plan and glass walls complemented with vaulted ceilings and wood floors. Remodeled just a few years ago, the home is perfect for a DJ who comes alive late at night; the home is extremely private yet features a variety of outdoor terraces tucked into lush landscaping for entertaining. Located on a 21,000-square-foot lot and a peaceful cul-de-sac, the dazzling estate offers views of the city of Los Angeles all the way to the ocean.

Often referred to as the “The Godfather of Electronic Music,” Oakenfold is making headlines these days thanks to his new spin on summer camp. In September, he’s offering a DJ camp for aspiring spinners. The five-day funfest will include instruction from some of the industry’s top names as well as in-studio demonstrations and one-on-one study. That’s quite a departure from the archery-and-color-wars of our summer camp days, but, hey, this is Hollywood after all.

Oakenfold also owns a second property in the Hollywood Hills, a four-bed, six-bath spread purchased back in 2003 for $2.35 million. Clearly, he doesn’t subscribe to the “cabin in the woods” summer camp setup.
