4 Los Angeles Homes Jay-Z and Beyoncé Should Have Bought Instead of Renting

When you're the reigning king and queen of America's hottest music empire, why rent when you can buy?

Picture this: the doorbell rings at your Los Angeles home. It’s Beyoncé. She and Jay-Z (and their little bundle of joy, Blue Ivy) have just moved in next door and they need to borrow a cup of sugar.

(They’re baking a cake for Solange’s birthday, but don’t worry — there’s no elevator involved.)

You’re not dreaming. The Carter Clan has decided to put down California roots, for now at least. TMZ.com recently reported that the couple is paying $150,000 a month for a ritzy Holmby Hills mansion and signed a year lease.

The home isn’t completely foreign to Bey and Jay — they rented it last summer on a short-term lease. But one too many nights in the Beverly Hills Hotel had the family itching for something a little more private.

But it’s a little hard to believe they couldn’t find anything to love permanently in the Los Angeles area. So in the name of being helpful to our close personal friends Beyoncé and Jay-Z, we thought we’d suggest a few properties to consider as they search for a forever home.

Sleek, modern, beautiful views, and lots of open space, how can you not love this Beverly Hills pad?

This five-bed, eight-bath mansion in Beverly Hills is a modern masterpiece, complete with ocean, city, and canyon views in every direction.

But the real draw at this palatial pad? Check out the closet. You could drive a boat show in there. Can’t you just imagine Blue Ivy playing with a set of 18-karat-gold Lincoln Logs while Beyoncé is fitted in custom Chanel?

The stunning master bath also includes an oversized steam shower sauna, two flat-screen TVs, and an infinity soaking tub. And of course, there’s a media room, where Beyoncé can watch herself in Dreamgirls and dream of that missed Oscar nom. After all, she and her man did rule the Vanity Fair Oscar party last weekend.

Measuring 8,520 square feet and situated in a cul-de-sac, with a long driveway on a gated plot and intensive security systems, the spread offers Bey and Jay the privacy they need away from the bright lights of the paparazzi, adoring fans, and former Destiny’s Child members.

The listing even mentions the home has a “garbage disposal,” which, for a price tag of nearly $17 mil, we certainly would hope so.

This gorgeous Mediterranean-inspired home is both luxurious and breathtaking.

We all know Beyoncé and Jay-Z love to frolic on yachts in the Mediterranean. So in keeping with that European style, we thought they’d appreciate this 10-bedroom Mediterranean beauty, also in Beverly Hills.

Located behind a long, private drive with maximum seclusion and security, this beauty is just a few minutes from the Beverly Hills Hotel, where Bey and Jay were staying before securing their rental in Holmby Hills.

There is a grand total of 22 bathrooms, so Beyoncé’s BFFs Gwyneth Paltrow and Taylor Swift will have plenty of spots to wash up when they come to visit.

And of course, there’s a formal living room, formal dining room, gourmet kitchen with breakfast room (Beezus loves to whip up some French toast), a library (where Blue Ivy reads Shakespeare), two family rooms, and a professional screening room.

An eight-car garage would come in handy when Jay, who recently met his Saturday Night Live impressionist Jay Pharaoh, needs to park his bevy of whips.

Another benefit is the private staff quarters, which sounds like a lovely home itself, with three bedrooms and a full kitchen. There’s also a pool house and hidden mosaic-tiled pool and a tennis court.

And while this would be a perfect fit for the Carter family, we’re going to have to ask that Solange stay behind the gates, because there is an elevator inside.

This Bel Air estate would give little Blue plenty of room to run and play while her parents do some outdoor entertaining.

Now we’re talking. At a cool $65 million, this 11-bedroom estate is located in an uber-exclusive Bel Air neighborhood.

Originally designed by legendary architect Paul Williams, the home features two gated entries for optimum privacy. With 17 bathrooms, three living rooms, seven fireplaces, and a 12-seat theater, there’s plenty of room for the growing family, who will hopefully have another bundle of joy on the way soon.

This home has amazing amenities for entertaining. There’s a billiards room, a climate-controlled wine room, which opens onto an expansive pool area with a football field–sized lawn, a hot tub, fire pit, tennis court, and fountains.

This home actually has an elevator as well, but seeing as it’s made of glass, Solange will have to be on her best behavior. You know, because of that whole “people who live in glass houses” thing.

This expansive and secluded Malibu spread would be great for the Carter clan.

In the spirit of thinking outside the box, we thought Beyoncé and Jay-Z might fancy a home in laid-back yet luxurious Malibu. Who could say no to these mountain and ocean views?

On the market for $24.99 million, this gorgeous home offers only five bedrooms and five bathrooms, but with 3.9 acres of space, there’s extensive privacy from onlookers and additional spots to expand if necessary.

The indulgent, Italian-style home features Murano glass fixtures, Venetian plastered walls, and Bourgogne and Italian stone floors. At 7,174 square feet, the spacious palazzo is also a prime spot for hosting parties.

Outside, there’s a custom fire pit and outdoor kitchen with a barbecue and pizza oven, which would be great for when Kanye West decides to come over and vent about life with Kim. (Side note: One person who we know will not be coming over any day soon is Kid Rock.)

A lighted tennis court with a cabana complements the pool/courtyard area, and we know Beyonce loves to get her workout on.

But again, that view.

(Disclaimer: One of the listing photos features a field of frolicking sheep. We cannot confirm at this time whether the sheep can sing “Drunk in Love,” but it probably can’t hurt if they do.)
