The Clippers’ Austin Rivers Scores A $6.1 Million Home In Pacific Palisades

Like father, like son: Basketball star Austin Rivers knows how to play the (real estate) game.

Clearly, the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. Austin Rivers, the 24-year-old point guard for the Los Angeles Clippers, just dropped $6.1 million on a luxurious piece of Pacific Palisades, CA, real estate. He’s following the example of his father (and Clippers coach), Doc Rivers, who snapped up an $8.2 million house in the famed Bird Streets of Hollywood Hills, CA, back in 2014. (Fellow residents on those prestigious roads have included everyone from Kelly Osbourne and Marvel maestro Stan Lee to Megan Mullally and Jodie Foster.)

Austin’s new six-bedroom, seven-bathroom, 7,400-square-foot property is a Cape Cod–style estate (fitting, seeing as his dad used to coach the Boston Celtics!) with a stunning ocean view. Step inside the living room, where a fireplace, hardwood floor, and surround sound kick off a collection of amenities any budding basketball star would want. Custom cabinetry, coffered ceilings, and a butler’s pantry feature prominently in the dining room, while a gourmet kitchen has a marble island and top-of-the-line appliances. The kitchen opens to a breakfast nook and family room overlooking the Pacific Ocean. On the lower level, a theater and a great room with a wine cellar provide options for entertaining, while pocket doors open out to a backyard with a pool, spa, and built-in barbecue. Upstairs in the master suite, 180-degree views of the ocean are complemented by a large walk-in closet and a double-sided fireplace that leads to the luxurious master bath, complete with dual sinks, a free-standing tub, and even more beautiful views. With a rooftop deck and fire pit, there’s really no need for Rivers to ever leave home — except to shoot some hoops, of course.

We’re noticing a trend for the Clippers: When the season heats up, the real estate deals do too. Rivers isn’t the only Clippers star to make big moves on the market recently: His teammate DeAndre Jordan just listed his own Pacific Palisades spread for $12.4 million earlier this month. While it doesn’t look as if the duo shares the same Realtor, it sure looks as though they have the same high-end taste in neighborhoods.
