Whether she’s fighting terrorists in Zero Dark Thirty or cruising through space in Interstellar, Jessica Chastain is always on the move. The acclaimed actress just listed her two-bed, two-bath Manhattan duplex for sale in pricey Greenwich Village for $1.795 million. (And in this New York, NY, neighborhood, that’s a very reasonable price.) Chastain bought the property back in 2012 for $1.2 million, but there’s a pretty good reason she’s decided to say goodbye to this gem.
The recently renovated duplex, which measures 1,284 square feet, is in a prewar building with towering 10.5-foot ceilings and two bedrooms. In the living room, a wood-burning fireplace offers a cozy spot to curl up, while the separate dining area is large enough to seat six. In the kitchen, an open layout and center island complement stunning granite countertops and top-of-the-line appliances.
Walk up the wide oak spiral staircase to the second level of the home, where the master bedroom overlooks the city. A massive cedar closet with double-height proportions is any woman’s dream and has probably housed some of those famous duds Chastain has worn on the red carpet. The master bath is a true taste of luxury, with radiant-heated floors, a metal enclosure tub, and a separate steam shower. The spacious guest bedroom has its own cedar closet.
You may wonder why Chastain would want to part with this dream apartment in Manhattan. Well, she’s moved on up to another famous New York performer’s home: She bought musical legend Leonard Bernstein’s Midtown condo last year for $5.1 million! Now that’s a perfect West Side Story.
