Celebs: They’re just like us! And that means even they have trouble selling their homes in an unstable market. So when Pharrell Williams, the acclaimed rapper/singer/coach on NBC’s The Voice, first attempted to sell his Miami, FL, real estate in 2012 for $16.8 million, the only response was crickets chirping. That failure was followed by another attempt to sell in 2013 at $14 million, then $10.9 million. With no success, the penthouse was pulled off the market for renovations. Finally, Pharrell has found a buyer for the fancy spread; unfortunately, he won’t make a profit. At $9.25 million, the house sold for $3.27 million less than what he paid for it, CelebrityNetWorth.com reports. Ouch! Well, at least Pharrell isn’t alone: Lots of celebs have had to settle their real estate woes with a loss.
Measuring 9,080 square feet, the five-bed, six-and-a-half-bath penthouse is located in the coveted Coral Way neighborhood of Miami. In the towering living room, a 30-foot ceiling provides a spacious, open atmosphere complemented with lots of character — it’s hard to miss the gigantic pop art portraits of Family Guy characters Stewie and Brian. Floor-to-ceiling windows create a gentle arc from the living room to the Venetian-plaster spiral staircase that leads to a mezzanine, all tucked under the umbrella of a large, translucent dome.
Perhaps the crown jewel of this palatial penthouse is its view: a stunning panorama of Biscayne Bay from the three levels of terraces and through oversized windows in the living room, bedrooms, and kitchen. But the billiards room, private gym, and home movie theater certainly don’t hurt its appeal! And with a private outdoor pool and a grilling area, it’d be hard to turn this place down.
Pharrell may be unloading his property to keep up with his schedule on The Voice that demands his presence on the West Coast. However, he’ll have to head back to the East Coast soon — it was just announced that New York’s prestigious Guggenheim Museum will produce new works by Pharrell this fall. The “Happy” musician isn’t the only Voice judge making moves: His colleague Adam Levine listed his SoHo loft earlier this year, only to yank it off the market to sell his Beverly Hills, CA, pad.
