Red Hot Chili Peppers Drummer Chad Smith Sells in Venice

When it comes to his Venice pad, it turns out that the Chili Peppers drummer planned to "Give It Away" pretty fast.

Less than a year after purchasing a three-bed, four-bath spread for $2.755 million in uber-hip Venice, CA, Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith sold the 2,800-square-foot pad for a cool $2.85 million.

Built in 2014, the ecofriendly architectural beauty has the style of Venice Beach with the natural beauty and sophistication of Ojai.

Located in President’s Row, the home features walls of glass, concrete, and white oak, providing a stark yet stylish aesthetic. A see-through fireplace is a fun twist on the traditional family gathering space, while the collapsing glass doors that open to a private yard provide a great place for entertaining. There are three en-suite bedrooms upstairs, each with its own private terrace.

But the crown jewel is the master suite, a true picture of luxury, which is connected by an architectural bridge and features a large walk-in closet, spa tub, walk-in shower, and his-and-her sinks. Smith, who is also known for his uncanny resemblance to funny guy Will Ferrell, clearly has good taste in real estate.

Wherever Smith lands, he’s in good company: His bandmate Anthony Kiedis just sold his Hollywood Hills villa for $4.2 million. However, chances of the band crashing together are probably pretty slim, seeing as Smith doesn’t limit his Californication to just one property. He also owns a five-bed, five-bath home in Malibu, CA, and at 4,610 square feet, it’s almost twice as large as this Venice, CA, joint. He snagged the pad in the ’Bu back in 2006 for $8.6 million.
