The Infamous Playboy Mansion Could Be Yours For A Cool $200 Million

Before you get too excited, it’s worth noting that the legendary estate comes with a built-in roommate who likes to party: Hugh Hefner.

That’s right, Playboy tycoon and pajama advocate Hugh Hefner and his notorious Tudor-style castle in the Holmby Hills neighborhood of Los Angeles, CA, are a package deal. Even though the Playboy Mansion, which is technically owned by Playboy Enterprises, was just listed for $200 million, word is, the elder statesman of sex will continue to live on the property!

Measuring over 20,000 square feet, the main house, which was built in 1927, has six bedrooms and six bathrooms, with two additional half baths. Spread out over 5 acres, the mansion welcomes guests with its Great Hall — a cathedral-like room with 22-foot ceilings and custom hand-carved oak panels. Also on the first floor is the primary living room, which converts to a movie screening room. (Hef loves a movie night!) There are multiple dining rooms (lots of Playmates to feed, after all) and even an aeolian pipe organ with pipes that extend all the way up to the second floor! There’s also a wine cellar, which is reachable via a hidden panel in the main office.

On the second floor is the master suite, where Hef hangs his hat — or, in his case, smoking jacket. There are two bedroom suites with adjacent baths, and two more bedrooms that share a bathroom. There are also four offices, since it takes a lot of staff to keep the mansion and magazine running. Luckily, the offices also have a shared bath. (Hef is all about sharing. And bathing.)

But outside the main house is where things get interesting. A four-bed, two-bath guesthouse is perfect for any C-list celebs who want to spend the night, while the game house is a great spot for some wholesome family fun. Think poker tables, pool tables, pinball machines, and a piano.

The bathhouse is a two-story structure built almost entirely out of stone. Complete with a gym and tanning area, the house has four changing rooms, two full baths, and two half baths. The spot is perfect for would-be centerfolds to change into bathing suits before splashing in the legendary pool area. The spacious lagoon-style pool has been home to countless notorious parties through the years, but it’s the grotto area, with four separate hot tubs, that’s been known to attract guests for much more than swimming. (It’s like Vegas: What happens in the grotto stays in the grotto.) For the perfect pool party, the area also has plenty of seating, an exterior bar and kitchenette, and an electric stove.

The Playboy Mansion even has a zoo license, in case the new owner wants to mix things up with some lions, tigers, and bears. A small citrus orchard is a relaxing oasis, while another orchard and forests of tree ferns and redwoods provide a natural escape. New life goal: owning a forest.

The property was purchased by Playboy Enterprises back in 1971 for just $1.05 million. So with a price tag of $200 million and a blue-chip Beverly Hills, CA, real estate firm listing the sale — The Agency’s Mauricio Umansky (who moonlights as a Real Housewives of Beverly Hills husband) is one of the listing agents! — let’s just say that the estate was a wise investment. Hefner has owned multiple other properties throughout the years, including the $5 million mansion he bought for wife Crystal Harris. Remember her? But from the looks of it, 89-year-old Hefner and his silk pajamas are still going strong: According to Deadline Hollywood, a miniseries called American Playboy: The Hugh Hefner Story, will head into production this year.
