Whoopi Goldberg is on the move. The co-host of “The View” and star of hit flicks like Sister Act 2 and Ghost just listed her longtime home in the Pacific Palisades for $8.795 million. The six-bed, six-bath estate has been Whoopi’s since 1993, when she bought it for- wait for it- $2.547 million. That means if she manages to sell it for her asking price, she’ll rake in a profit of over $6 million. Now that will have her singing “Oh, Happy Day” like she’s back playing Sister Mary Clarence again!
Coming in at a whopping 7039 square feet, the Moderne-style home, which is in the Riviera neighborhood of the Pacific Palisades, is the former residence of famed British actor David Niven. Built in 1933, the property features many of its original distinctive features from the golden age of Hollywood, including Art Deco inspiration that is rarely found in residential properties. Tucked behind private gates with lots of mature trees and lush landscaping, the main house is the picture of elegance with black-and-white marble checkerboard flooring in the foyer, crown moldings, and multiple fireplaces. With well proportioned living and dining rooms, as well as a family room and library, the property has plenty of space for gathering with family and friends. A newly-remodeled kitchen has a sunny view outside, overlooking the swimming pool, lush greenery, and secluded woodland canyon below. There’s also a guest house with its own cozy fireplace, kitchen, and bathroom. Maybe one of Whoopi’s former “View” co-hosts, like Rosie O’Donnell or Candace Cameron Bure, have stopped by to hang out in the past? (We doubt it.)
Whoopi tends to shift back and forth between the east and west coasts. She’s owned a $2.8 million home in West Orange, New Jersey wince 2009, as well as a condo in Manhattan‘s ritzy Soho neighborhood. In the past, she also owned the Robinson-Winchester Farm, a 745-acre ranch in bucolic Marlboro, Vermont.
