My son was able to join the school after having a difficult experience somewhere else. At KLE he has flourished and grown thanks to the help of his great teachers and the supportive staff. School is welcoming to parents.

We are writing to you today as a united group of parents, grandparents, and former students of Lamar Louise Curry Middle School. We started our online support group to ensure you know that the work you do every day is truly changing the world.When we look at our community, we see the incredible fruits of your labor. Within our group, we are so proud to share the success stories of former E.S.E. students who have reached heights many thought impossible:In the Medical Field: We have former students now working in healthcare, giving back the same compassion you once showed them.In Engineering and Science: Many of our children have become engineers and scientists, having learned to trust their own brilliant minds in your classrooms.In Business and Self-Employment: A great number of our alumni are now successful business owners, thriving because you taught them the grit and independence needed to work for themselves.We truly owe these achievements to the E.S.E. department at Curry. You turned "I can't" into "I will."Because of these successes, we feel a deep disappointment when we see negative reviews or unkind comments online. To anyone reading those: Please ignore the noise. Those comments come from people who simply do not understand the heart of this school. They don't see the late nights or the specialized attention you give every child. The critics aren't the ones who have watched their children grow into doctors, engineers, and entrepreneurs—but we are.For every negative voice, there are hundreds of us standing behind you. I made the difficult decision to move my son out of Varela during his senior year because of a very disappointing experience he had on the boys volleyball team during his junior year. Despite being dedicated and passionate about the sport, he was treated unfairly. It was clear this was because he chose not to join the Miami United club team.It is disheartening to see high school athletics affected by outside affiliations and favoritism. A school team should be about school spirit, teamwork, and recognizing talent based on merit, not pressure to join specific clubs.I hope Varela takes a serious look at how its programs are being run and focuses on putting students’ experiences and development first. No student should feel excluded or overlooked for making personal choices outside of school.
