5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageHave had two children (6 years apart) attend this school, and they are so welcoming and inclusive to all - race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, or neurodivergence. They have one of the ASD centers of Jeffco, and all staff are just more understanding of neurodivergent children, whether they are in the ASD program or not. They also have a school psychologist and a Social Emotional Learning specialist, and the children regularly engage in social emotional learning. There are events and meetings to help bring the community together as well. The normal PTA meetings, but also school accountability meetings where parents and principle/staff can talk. There are monthly coffee community meetings, where they teach us about a certain topic - such as safe technology, assessments, neurodiversity. I just love how supportive they've been of my kids. As far as discipline/bullying I've only had a couple instances that were taken care of very fast. Example is one time my older son was thrown down and scraped up by an angry friend and it was taken very seriously. Afterwards they even included a group friend discussion and helped my son and his friend work through the upset, and continued to monitor - nothing more ever happened, I really think helping them work through the problems was key.Parent Review2mo ago - Standley Lake High School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageStandley Lake high school is a great place to go to high school, though not without problems. While other schools in the area might have more funding or an objectively nicer facility, they tend to have a far more toxic culture than SLHS (I'm mostly talking about Ralston Valley, and not as a joke, that school has serious issues with homophobia, racism, and general toxic behavior). If you live in the area or are interested in the IB program, there isn't really a better option mOther Review5y ago - Manning Options School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school supports all students and helps me as a student with special needs succeed. Many of the negative reviews are from when the school had a different principal. I have had bad experiences with some teachers but most are thoughtful and expect all students. Although this school has some dumb rules and high goals. I have found that they do a lot to help students succeed.Student Review7mo ago - Dennison Elementary School

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageUnfortunately All five of my siblings and I had the "opportunity" to go to D'Evelyn. However as many would assume/expect that we were lucky, it was the complete opposite experience. I would never recommend this school to anyone... it is actually HORRIBLE. 4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageIf you care about your child's education, then do not go to this school. No grades, no real guidance, no discipline, no structure and no motivation geared towards actual education. It does not hold kids accountable, does not teach responsibility and does not set kids up for success.Parent Review2mo ago - Jefferson County Open Secondary

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school only works for a very small number of learners. The quality of teachers is really hit or miss. The ideology behind this learning environment is student lead learning. Unfortunately if you have anything other than an outstanding teacher the student is left to fail academically while shouldering the blame for not being self-directed. A few students thrive, unfortunately many are poorly prepared academically for life after high school. The administration is unwilling or unable to fully accept responsibility for the safety of their students during school hours. Drug use, alcohol consumption, and sex on campus does occur at this secondary school which shares a campus with K-6. Do not accept the hype that the community environment is so great that these students respect the rules. I was recently informed that 1/2 of the class in one of my students electives chooses to regularly not attend that class. No attendance is recorded and they are simply unaccounted for during this time. This did not seem problematic to the teacher at all. I'm unsure how this compares to other schools. I was surprised this type of behavior existed, since the number of students that are enrolled at JCOS is so low, and the advisers claim to be deeply invested. The administration's response is that the students are choosing to break the rules and it is not the schools philosophy to police them. There are very few extra curricular activities offered through the school. There is almost no focus on physical education. PE classes that do exist have almost entirely male enrollment. A holistic approach to education is not embraced here. The exceptional outcome that occasionally occurs at this school is promoted as the norm. Please be aware that it is not.Parent Review5y ago - Check out schools near 9071 Westminster Blvd.

What Locals Say about Westminster

"I live in a quiet neighborhood where everyone is your family and treats you as such once they get to know you. Just make sure not to knock on there door everyday for sugar and not offer them any sugar back when you have some. The lady that lives across from me, she bakes some great Christmas goodies, the old man was helping my neighbor clean up our yard and saw me twitching in my sleep. Made sure I was ok. We’re about to move and I’m going to miss my neighbors dearly. "

"I have lived in Westminster for 18 years out of my 22. I’ve always referred to the city as “sleep suburbia”. Families and the retired. In the past, very odd occurrences happened what seemed all of the time (the late Jessica Ridgeway & Vince Nett, SLHS in general) but in recent years, the city is really thriving and has come a long way. "I absolutely love the Stratford Lakes area. The neighbors are so friendly and outgoing, and the area is gorgeous and well kept. Also, as a single female, I was very comfortable walking in the neighborhood and in College Open Space at night. (Just watch out for coyotes if you're walking with a dog. They'll follow you but can easily be scared away with yelling, clapping, and jingling your keys.)"

"I have lived in this neighborhood fir 5 treats and have enjoyed its convenience if location. I am moving to a private residence - so tired of the spat complexes INLY because there are a few who take no pride in living in apts as their home,ie, throw cups and other trash in the parking lots or shrubs, don’t clean the after their dogs, talk loudly on phones on their patio with no respect for others living close by, etc. I have also had some great apt. neighbors here ."
