What Locals Say about Los Altos Hills

  • Maureen Downey
"Born and raised here, 53 years. It has changed dramatically from the wide open spaces and endless apricot orchards, but it is still an amazing space to live. Hopefully the newcomers don’t ruin it…"
  • Martin K.
"Nothing I know of. Have been living here less than a year. Though, town counsil did held a meetup for new citisenz"
  • Andy C.
"I moved to this neighborhood more than 30 years ago, and like the environment much. Especially, the walk path network provides really quiet country style living."
  • Annearjani
"Parts of Los Altos Hills have spectacular views of the Bay/City or Mountains in the adjacent Open Space. There are hundreds of miles of pathways throughout the town. You can horseback ride, enjoy biking, or explore the incredible pathway system that hooks up to Mid Peninsula open space trails. LAH is serene as minimum lot size is 1acre. Students attend XLNT Los Altos schools. Parts of LAH are walkable toe downtown Los Altos. It is exquisitely beautiful in LAH. I find it is easier to commute from most parts of LAH to Apple or Hwy 280 or Hwy 85 Than if you live in Los Altos, Menlo Park, or Palo Alto. I can be at SJ Intl Airport within 18minutes! Driving in the hills is soothing and fun! It is much better than sitting in traffic on Miramonte or Covington. I LOVE LOVE LOVE living in the hills. I raised two children here. I am now going out to listen to foxes scream, owls hoot, raccoons trill, and coyotes howl. Did I mention how I can see amazing stars and the milky way on nights when the moon rises late? I love nature, my prolific fruit trees and all the natural beauty around me. I see spectacular Harvest Moon rises over the San Jose Mountains. I feel as if I live in a National Park, but I am minutes from highways and about 8minutes from a grocery store and my children's schools. Also, there is never traffic on my dead end street. This is heaven!! "

"Unless you have previously lived in Los Altos Hills, you would not know that all lots are a minimum of 1 acre and that there are horse and trail type walkways throughout the city that go on for miles and miles. Our favorite aspect of living here is the quiet, space and the pathways."

"You have to drive to get to shopping, restaurants and night life, but it's a beautiful drive! Everywhere you go up here is beautiful. Mystical even. A place steeped in history and interesting people. "
