"I f don’t know if there is public transportation I have never used that. Easy freeway access and close to Auburn "
  • Amullanymoneypenny
"Small town, good neighbors, safe, good schools, a lot to do, close to a lot of outdoor activities including, yuba river, tahoe, Truckee, hikes, biking...."
  • Dani A.
"Great neighborhood, very friendly and amazing place to live. A little expensive but well worth the people you meet. Lots of fun trails too!"
  • Dani A.
"There are Lots of family events, very friendly town, wouldn’t recomend letting your kids walk along the street alone, people tend to drive a little crazier around some of the windy roads. "
  • Lynzie133
"I lived in this community for six years. Community events schools grocery store‘s parks and nature loving amenities all around. We absolutely love it here!"
  • Sandra B.
"I grew up here, so can see it's advantages, & drawbacks. Pluses: quiet rural bedroom community of about 5,000 people, among the oaks and pines tucked among the hills & trees away from the noise & traffic of Sacramento. Long ago when growth started coming in the 60's, the residents of Meadow Vista voted to put a moratorium building on less than an acre to maintain its' rural feel. It also voted to put in a piped treated drinking water system that put's it ahead of surrounding communities that have to rely solely on wells. Meadow Vista also has its' own community park with soccer field, tennis courts, duck pond, community center for use of seniors and residents, etc. In the area is Winchester which was developed in the 90's with million dollar homes on 2 acre parcels. It is a private development with a world class golf course, horse and walking trails and club house. The development has opened the use of it's miles of trails to residents of the surrounding community. The area is very interested in sports with many bike races, marathons and horse back riding events such as the Tevis Cup ride. Meadow Vista sits just 2 miles off of a major interstate, so it has easy access to surrounding towns. Negatives: No junior high or high school in town. The children have to be bussed to nearby Weimar (4 miles) and Colfax (10 miles) for these schools. Nearest community college is 15 miles away by freeway in Rocklin. CSU Sacramento and UC/Davis are the nearest state funded universities. Shopping is abysmal, with only one small grocery store in Meadow Vista, post office, pharmacy, one gas station, feed store and auto repair shop, Wells Fargo Bank branch office, and a few other small businesses. Closest stores are in nearby Auburn, 7 mi. away, with Target, Kmart, Home Depot, Ross, Famous Footwear, Big 5 Sporting Goods, grocery stores & promises to build Costco & Walmart. Closest mall is 20 mi. away in Roseville, The Galleria, & Costco. 50 mi. to Int'l airport & Arco Sports Arena"

"I've lived in Meadow Vista for over 15 years and love this place to death. Great schools, parks, and people. I love the outdoors but I'm still close enough to hit the freeway and drive to the city. "
