What Locals Say about Alger Heights

  • Lmuresan
"The neighborhood's walkability is what attracted my family. We can fulfill most of our needs without leaving the neighborhood, and mainly use or bikes or feet for transportation. We're also near four bus lines that can get us all around the city, and have either bike infrastructure or side streets that can get us downtown without ado. "
  • Lmuresan
"We love Alger Heights: we're in walking distance to almost everything we need, including multiple grocery stores, a hardware store, restaurants, library, post office, parks, and more. Neighbors tend to be friendly and homes well-kept, and the neighborhood safe and quiet. We're near multiple bus lines and an easy bike ride downtown. "
  • Lmuresan
"Ready, Set, Spring!, Eastern and Alger Pop-up Market, block parties, and neighborhood garage sales bring the neighborhood together. We love living here. "
  • Brenda J.

"The neighborhood is diverse, young, old, families, college students just all different types of people. Everybody keeps to themselves respects neighbors and are very friendly. Lots of dog walkers"
  • Brenda J.
"There are bus stops everywhere, like every block on the busiest streets. I drive myself. But I also see a lot of bikers. The neighborhood feels really safe, if you need to walk to the bus stops"

"We have truly loved our neighbored since we moved here 10 years ago.. great neighbors and it’s been wonderful to see all of the changes in the restaurants, grocery store etc. We love it here and will be sad to leave when we move to a bigger home someday. "
  • Anewme15
"Typically my commute isn't that bad, there are times that traffic is heavier on 28th St. and Kalamazoo Avenue, however it only adds a few extra minutes. "

"Alger Heights is such a friendly neighborhood! We love the walking community. We can walk to the park, walk down the road to ice cream, and stop next door for groceries on our way home. Real Food Cafe has the best breakfast in town, and Sweet Mellisas has delicious ice cream! It is a great community for meeting new friends or playmates for your kids. There are lots of parks to walk to including a splashpad. We wouldn't have wanted to live anywhere else the past 10 years! "
  • "Surveyed home owners: Home owners love the accessiblity to everything from shopping, expressway, downtown, Medical Mile! It's awesome! Well cared for homes and they seem to love their neighbors, too!!!"
