What Locals Say about Victor

  • Vickie S.
"Victor is a tiny town site located in the middle of the Bitterroot Valley, between Stevensville and Hamilton, both mid-sized towns (for Montana). It's also perfectly positioned between the Bitterroot River, and the beautiful Bitterroot-Selway Wilderness mountains. There are three ski resorts within 45 miles of Victor (two north of Missoula, one south of Darby) . The main highway, HWY 93 was recently expanded, and the first stop light in Victor was installed within the past two years. Also, a paved, winding trail has been built along HWY 93 all the way from Lolo (just south of Missoula) to Hamilton. It's wide, with rest areas along the way and is perfect for walking, jogging, bicycling, etc. Local shopping is very limited, but Victor boasts an excellent Scottish pub "The Hamilton House", as well as a great steak house, the "Victor Steakhouse". Folks living in town are a combination of retirees, families, singles and couples. The local industry used to be mainly log home building and supplies. That industry shrank in the last five years, so now more folks are commuting to Missoula and beyond for work. Housing prices are still pretty low compared to prices in the other Bitterroot Valley towns, but I see them trending upward lately, so may soon be up for those looking for a bargain. I'd recommend this area for anyone who wants easy access to mountains, river and outdoor activities and still wants the convenience of town life."
