"I have lived here for 2 years and everyone seems to be very friendly. a lot of my neighbors go out side a lot! christmas is my favorite holiday and I love the Christmas spirit. "
  • Natasha E.
"There should be trackers in all children’s watches so that way if they do you happen to wander off we will know where they are.. I also think that the city of Salem should try to keep their streets and sidewalks more clean by hiring more people to maintain it"
  • Carissa G.
"we have two ice cream trucks! the kids love it! tip, if you buy the ice cream from the white truck they are nice and polite."
  • Kelliesoto
"It isn’t safe. I wouldn’t recommend it for kids. The school also has terrible ratings, we can’t wait to be out of here "
  • Bethany J.
"There are a lot of really nice houses mixed with some really terrible houses. I’ve seen a lot of crime activity go on in my neighborhood in the few years I’ve been here."
  • Amy F.
"Decent neighborhood, busy street traffic though. Lots of families with younger kids and we all lookout for each other in times or crisis, or in need of a cup of sugar or an egg. "
  • Schultz_jennifer
"Extremely family friendly. There are quite a few homeless but they are typically friendly and appreciative of the support offered by the neighborhood."
  • Schultz_jennifer
"Friendly neighbors who go out of their way to support one and other. Family focused and welcoming of new neighbors. Neighbors regularly check in with each other and are always offering to provide help when needed."
  • Schultz_jennifer

  • Jonathan O.
"Lots of people on drugs, traffic is terrible. Witnessed three accidents in 1 week! Houses on some streets do not seem safe for kids to play outside."
  • Danielle F.
"pretty central to everything but south salem is a terrible, trashy, drug & crime infested area.. wasted a life savings on a home I found out all too late would be impossible to get out of"
  • Sophie N.
"bbg. spontaneous play dates with neighbors folks come out to sit talk laugh a lot. family. barter and trade. "
  • Danielle F.
"high vagrant & prowler frequented area keeps your dog high stressed & many stray cats in the neighborhood as well as unleashed/non-fenced roaming dogs make for a hazardous situations for dog walkers"
  • Angelicaevers
"There’s a big empty lot by our neighborhood that people take their dogs to. Lots of places to walk to nearby "
  • "This neighborhood suffered from crime and neglect in the 1980's. A huge coordinated effort on the part of the City, schools, churches, and the neighborhood association was started in 1987 and is still ongoing. Crime dropped 27% and neighbors became reacquainted with each other and the charm of the older home neighborhood was restored. "
  • "I have lived in Salem my entire life and this house since 2004. This area is improved so much over the years and a lot since we moved here. We have been here 8 years and have had no trouble at all. There is been a little in the neighborhood but not that much especially compared to 10 years ago."
