What Locals Say about Newport

  • Jamie grieb
"Eh, it’s ok I guess. Some areas better than others. Traffic is a problem. People speed through these little streets. Lots of irresponsible pet owners."
  • Bechtelem
"Most of the people that have been here for years are friendly, some not so much. Dogs are abundant and friendly, and always welcomed. "
  • Marissa S.
"I enjoy the downtown event every year- Newport Days. Food, shopping, live entertainment. The annual fair and the holiday decor around Christmas "
  • Bechtelem
"Everyone has a dog, is what it seems like. Not many yards have a fence though so majority have to walk their pets."
  • Sebastian K.
"This is a very peaceful place to live! Very safe very clean all around very good place to live. "
  • Rue_17
"Nice and quiet. Close to town. Neighbors are friendly. It’s called teachers hill Bc of all the teachers that lived here"
  • Mamalovesbabies
"Rather lax. I drive thru town mostly, and never really have many issues or complaints. Easy ride to anywhere, really. "
  • Trudy
"This area is in the deep country. No recreation, shopping or public transportation. The roads are narrow 2 lanes with almost no shoulder (if you need to pull over for an emergency) or guard rail. There is a shopping plaza with a Giant grocery store, Mickey D's, Chinese restaurant, Subway, beer distributor, bank & Holiday hair salon. They just took out the Wine & Spirits store, don't know why. There are some shops, 2 tattoo parlors and a Good Will in the nearest town, Newport. No public transportation at all. There are a couple parking areas where CAT bus lines will pick up for commuters to the Capital Complex. Entertainment & nightlife? Really? This is Perry County, get real. But if you are looking for beautiful, quiet country living this is it. This area is definitely beautiful and quiet."
  • Robin L.
"Country living, so area lacks public transportation and entertainment and nightlight. This area is perfect for anyone who wants to enjoy wildlife, but be close to town, schools, county seat, local state park, and to the city of Harrisburg."
