"It’s quiet, safe and friendly. One of the few walkable Pittsburgh suburbs with a proper Main Street and local businesses. "

"Lots of people have dogs , it’s nice to see the owners walking around the neighborhood daily and they are respectful and responsible and clean up after their animals. "
  • Meg.elko
"It’s very busy with cars / a lot of businesses close high in rent for what you get. A lot of trees if you have allergies & doesn’t pick up trash very well. They are slow at plowing roads. Small town feel. Everyone keeps to them selves. They are okay. "
  • Meg.elko
"They have nice local shops and schools. The people are rude but it’s very close to everything and hospitals and nursing homes for my job. "
  • Jessica T.

"My wife and i have lived in oakmont for two years now, and we wanted to give an honest review. First off lets start with town itself. Its a very safe and beautiful place to live, i am always seeing people jogging and walking their dogs all throughout the day and night. yes i said night. There are a few bars within walking distance, and alot of great places to eat. The main road in oakmont has a ton of great little shops, it almost makes you feel like your in shadyside, minus all the stuck up people. Everyone in the neighborhood are friendly and nice. people stop during their walks to say hello and comment on how great our house looks after all the improvements we did to it. We can really tell that they are appreciative of what we have done to make the neighborhood look better. My wife and i do not have children, so i cant really comment on the schools. I do know however that it is a small school district. Located right next to the school is riverside park. It is absolutely gorgeous, and as the name says its right on the river. When i started writing this review i said it was going to be an honest review and not like the others that just say this place is great. Honestly one thing i absolutely hate about oakmont is the traffic. Coming across the oakmont bridge at rush hour is probably one of the worst experiences of my life. Traffic will back up for miles in both directions.(there is a plan to widen the bridge, so well see) Also the taxes are some of the highest around, but honestly i dont mind paying a little more in taxes, because the upkeep of the town, cleanliness, safety, and all the other little things they do, like parades, sidewalk sales, leaf collection and other stuff make it well worth it. When my wife and i decided we were going to buy our first house together, the only place we wanted to live was oakmont. Homes in oakmont do not last long, so if your on the fence about buying one dont hesitate. its a great place to live and raise a family."
