What Locals Say about Newbold

Review Highlights

Newbold, Philadelphia: steady, transit-rich South Philly enclave with family roots and upside. Loved for Broad Street Line access, walkability, diverse neighbors, parks, schools, and events. Drawbacks include litter, loud weekend traffic, some safety worries, and rising costs.

  • Trulia User
"I don't mind dog owners living in the neighborhood as long as they clean up after them and care for their animals properly. I'm against animal cruelty of any kind. "
  • Derik C.
"Halloween, yard sales, and mummers day festivities. There are also night markets, block parties, and more"
  • Bill F.
"I like the neighborhood, everybody respects each other, some say hello others no but it doesn't make them bad, in general everybody is occupied by his own business. the cons, mostly during the weekend you hear bikers and cars with loud music lately night that really wake up & make you jumpy."

"I went to high school across the street and lived a half a block a way on Jackson. Great neighborhood everything you could need within walking distance and public transportation a stone's throw away to get you anywhere in the city or even if you commute out of state to New Joisy. I love South Philly and this neighborhood i pass through on a daily basis and always brings back very fond memories from my childhood. Great location!"

"South Philadelphia is unique because of all the unique people that live here! There are still family owed businesses and corner variety stores. Ethic specialty stores. There’s just no place like south Philadelphia. Believe me, I’ve been to many places with locals ( not as a tourist). And I’ve had my friends from other parts of the u.s here. They all say that they’ve never been anyplace like here and they love it and still love the visit! "
