What Locals Say about Brownes Addition

"It’s good for dogs in general. Lots of dog bags and good places for dogs to play in the park and walking on trails"

"I don’t know what to say. The area is really good to live it’s extremely close to downtown and I-90 "
  • Denny J. .
"Vibrant neighborhood with restaurants and shops, adjacent to downtown, very convenient! There are very few property owners who live here, most are renters as the neighborhood is mostly apartments. There are great tree covered sidewalks and wide streets. Good for walking and riding bikes. Rosauer’s is convenient (although they need to update and invest in this location). "

"I have been here for a year and a half, but have family that have been here four years. There are druggies and homeless the closer you are to downtown. There is drama going on, but honestly it's more amusing I guess. I don't feel unsafe but I am careful. You mind your business and be alert and you are just fine. Make sure nothing is left in your car and that your house is locked. Don't leave anything valuable sitting out and be extra careful when it gets cold as homeless will squat if they can. BUT I have made many friends and it feels like a big family. It has a fantastic community feel and we do look after our own. Its funky eclectic, lots of animal lovers and artsy people. Beautiful homes and halfway decent rent but people aren't pretentious or too trashy. There are great restaurants, cafe's, bars, parks, and a museum within walking distance. Many of my neighbors use the buses or walking for most of their needs. There are festivals in the park, you can walk down to the river. Honestly there is nothing you could need that isnt in walking distance. I would buy if I could and I will be sad when I leave."

"My neighborhood is amazing. I raised my children here. They are now grown women and live in Brownes still. Not unlike other neighborhoods, there can be “undesirable” situations. One should always be aware of their surroundings, no matter where you are. We are close to grocery stores, parks, the MAC, walking distance to downtown, and on 3 different bus lines. This has been my home for over 25 years and I love it more now than ever."
  • Leemwilliams
"We love this neighborhood! We enjoy urban living with a neighborhood feel! We live across from the park and enjoy seeing all the families that use it."
