What Locals Say about Eken Park

  • Sruthleigh
"Annual neighborhood festival, bike to work week, Halloween decoration competition with nearby Emerson East neighborhood."
  • EkenNeighbor
"This is such a cozy place to live! Great eats nestled throughout the neighborhood, and plenty more within easy biking distance. It's convenient to all the city amenities Madison has to offer with the charm and comfort of a smaller community. "
  • Bob
"neighbors can be nice but our packages get stolen frequently...also strange cars are often in our parking lot"
  • B Z
"I have been in Eken Park for over a decade and have seen it go from almost an unknown part of town often struggling with crime to becoming one of the most desirable neighborhoods in the city. Up and down the block neighbors are finally feeling great about investing in major repairs and renovations. We too are spending a large amount improving our current home here in Eken Park and are here for the long haul. Eken Park offers incredible access to biking/jogging routes, parks, dog parks and plenty of greenspace at every turn. In recent years the neighborhood has had bolstered sense of community and even put on two Eken Park festivals! Many of the restaurants and other businesses have renovated their buildings in the last few years as business owners see the huge potential this neighborhood has. The city and neighborhood association have invested recently in Eken Park and Washington Manor Park with new equipment and landscaping. There has also been a metal art installation w/ new sign at the main entry to the area on North St. & Commercial Ave. Crime is noticeably dropping while families and young professionals seem to be moving here in large numbers. Lastly, there seems to be a bit of an arts/creative community of 20-30 somethings livening things up lately. You don't have to go downtown anymore to be inspired."

"Buses, Mallard Baseball Games, Copps Groceries, Shopko, BP Convienence store and parks are so close... you never need to use your car. "
