Alanis Morissette Sells Her Brentwood Mansion For $5.3M

There's nothing ironic about the bundle she made on this deal.

You Oughta Know that this Canadian crooner has a brain for the real estate business. Singer Alanis Morissette just sold her seven-bed, seven-bath home in the tony Los Angeles neighborhood of Brentwood for $5.325 million. (Fellow big names like James Corden and Reese Witherspoon have owned properties in the chic enclave.) But here’s the kicker: Morissette bought the home back in 1996, during the height of her Jagged Little Pill stardom, for just $1.795 million. That’s a cool profit of around $3.5 million on this sale!

Measuring 5152 square feet, the private, gated Mediterranean mansion embraces the indoor/outdoor aesthetic of southern California. Built in 1951, the home has been remodeled over the years to embrace craftsman details and modern amenities, while maintaining it’s original inspiration and vitality. A private driveway leads guests to the home, where an open floor plan offers two en-suite bedrooms on the first floor, as well as three upstairs. The exquisite master suite is a three-room beauty with two bathrooms of its own, one of which features a stunning bathtub set in stone that looks out over the lush greenery outside. It also features a sprawling walk-in closet and romantic terrace overlooking the grounds. A rolling manicured lawn sits next to a fun playscape, perfect for when the kids of the house invite friends over. A sparkling swimming pool and spa are the focal point of a spacious patio area, with plenty of space to entertain or relax by the fire pit or cabana while overlooking the city lights and pastoral rolling hills. One unexpected feature? The half basketball court, where we’re guessing Alanis sunk free throws with… one hand in her pocket.
