"Mostly quiet and spread out space between homes. It’s a quiet country life in Vancleave for the most part. "
  • Olivia86438643
"I’ve lived here my whole life. It’s a small welcoming town. Everyone knows everyone. Most places are small businesses."
  • Dameon W.
"Living here is terrible. You shouldn’t come here. The weather is terrible and the people are terrible. Live in any other state please and thank you. "

  • Jonica P.
"It is very quiet and well maintained. People are very friendly and either wave or say hi. The houses are nice and I have great neighbors and we watch out for one another."
  • Cain
"Likes : How much land there is, how dog friendly our neighbors are, and not many cars come through so it’s safe to walk your dog. Dislike : Most neighbors have no fences so their dogs wander into our yard."
  • Ahaines100

  • jsivori

"I live here and have for 14 years. It's a nice, relatively quiet area. The casinos and surrounding provide nightlife if that's your thing, but other than that, Vancleave is just far enough outside city limits to avoid taxes and utilities. It's a nice country setting within reasonable driving distance to shopping, restaurants, etc without the added costs associate with "city life". Schools are good and relatively new (except the upper elementary which is currently getting some upgrades). Personally I think the schools should be ranked higher than they are but who am I. Personally I think(know) their ranking structure is skewed so don't let it bother you that they aren't an overly exceptionally ranked school system. There are two parks, once of which is nicer than the other. They both have walking tracks and playground type equipment for the kids. They have pavilions for gatherings and one is centrally located in the town area (by high school) and by the baseball and football fields and tennis courts. There's an outdoor arena that holds annual events like fairs and rodeos that is also located in the area of the park. There is plenty of law enforcement presence in the city but it's primarily only Sheriff. Highway patrol isn't seen around much and we don't have a police department. There is a full time fire department (also located by the park area) and several volunteer units scattered around the area. One big drawback is high speed internet. Most areas are capped (DSL) because they are already at the capacity of the lines that were run out here. There is no Cable. DSL customers have to drop before anyone can add so new customers and new construction is screwed because there's a waiting list. Pretty sad when you think about being 2013 and consider that even bottom of the line DSL isn't available in a coastal community like Vancleave."
