"The flatlands are very dog-walking friendly but are very few sidewalks when you get into the hills which makes walking hazardous "

  • Angela
"Great vicinity to 280, 101 and 92 freeways. Proximity to San Francisco, east and South Bay. Sometimes school traffic could be challenging but that is only during certain time frames. Otherwise commute is pretty easy."
  • Angela
"Must have a car since most places ie grocery stores, gas station, restaurants are not walkable locations. Accessible to freeways making it convenient to commute to San Francisco or South Bay."
  • Lilurs_39

"Not an easy place to walk as there are not many sidewalks. We have lots of wildlife at dawn and dusk which means we need to be cautious when driving & cats should stay inside. "
  • Trulia User
"Great access to the 280 which has way less traffic. Raley on Ave gets busy but you can take Alameda de Las Pulgas to go to San Mateo as well as San Carlos. "
  • Trulia User

  • Cgkmccarthy
"Belmont might be the only Bay Area town in danger of wildfire because of the large amount of open space within the city limits. Western Hills includes Waterdog Lake Park and miles of trails through the hills around it. It's a walkable neighborhood, if you don't mind the hills, to the Belmont Library, two supermarkets, several restaurants, a nursery, Starbucks, Ace Hardware and two banks. This is a pleasant, comfortable, friendly neighborhood. The big events are the annual Greek Festival on Labor Day weekend at the Greek Orthodox Church, the Christmas tree lighting, the art festival in Carlmont Shopping Center, the neighborhood's downtown, and the Waterdog Run/Walk in October. We share our perfect weather with lots of birds, squirrels and deer here. Mostly 1960s/70s subdivisions, just a handful of historic houses remain on hidden lanes."
  • Kristen K.
"It’s family friendly, close to shopping, dog friendly and very cozy. Great schools, parks, and close to the 280."
  • Koharalisa

"Feeling of security. People are mostly pleasant. There are a lot of apartment homes. Shopping center has variety. "
  • Shaun W.
"Safe, quiet, walking distance to the little shopping plaza with great options! Incredible schools and sooooooooooooooooooo close to the Waterdog Trails."
  • Nadia p.
"Good area a bit worried of the speeding on marine view ave very loud cars driving by and speeding I do see kids playing outside wish they would have a police officer monitor the speeding. "
  • Jwalant S.
"Good quiet neighborhood with convenient access to Caltrain and other amenities like parks and trails."
  • Yuqing P.
"Commute to SF everyday. Caltrain is 15 minutes walk from my place. The local train takes about 50mins to get to SF. If you can drive to Hillsdale, there is bullet train."
  • Pflbear
"They have a couple events going on in the park on Ralston from music events to holiday events for children"
  • MikeB
"I have lived in this neighborhood for 31 years. Love the village style life style, neighbors and deers"
  • Belmonter
"Belmont has more trees, parks and trails than any other town on the peninsula. I live near the popular Water Dog Lake Trail. Carlmont Shopping Center has a nursery, a hardware store, a Lunardi's Market, Chinese, Japanese, Mexican and a breakfast cafe and the beautiful Water Dog Tavern with an outside garden with a creek running through it. The library is beautiful with a children's playground right outside."
  • Patti T.
"Aside from the surface streets, it’s not bad. Easy access to 101, 92 and 280. Rush hour gets tricky simply because of the school traffic (multiple schools in area), but overall not bad. "
  • Mom of 2
"Family friendly, good schools, great library and fun walking trails. Two different large grocery stores and cute shopping center with few fun restaurants. "
  • Leslie SK
"That you need to watch kids closely as cats do speed through the streets occasionally (a neighbor’s dog was recently run over and they didn’t stop)."
  • Jenniemaruyama
"Having a Caltrain station in Belmont is very convenient. Three tech companies pick their employees up at bus stops at El Camino Real and Ralston. Wonderful neighborhood. "
  • Tisha W.
"There aren’t many community events in Belmont other than the Greek Festival, and the tree lighting at Carlmont shopping center. "
  • Renan p.
"I have lived for almost 13 years and I’m love it. It’s quite, there’s parking and neighbors are very nice. Neighbors are not noisy and they can help you anytime. There’s a retired cop and he usually looks out for the community. "
  • Vasanders
"We have lived in Belmont for nearly 20 years and love it here. With great schools, restaurants, parks, hiking, community and tons of charm, it is an ideal place to raise a family. There is also easy access to freeways. "
  • Vasanders
