What Locals Say about Hickman Mills South

  • Dalanohill
"There's not many dogs around so they might can make a small community with the other owners. There are a few strays when it's warm out. "
  • Julian B. H.
"Neighborhood kids heckle our dog and curse at my kids. We homeschool bc the schools aren’t accredited. We just had our first visit to the public school for testing and instead of a front desk there’s a security office. "
  • Julian B. H.
"My kids have to be homeschooled because the school district is inadequate and unsafe. But the house is huge and the neighborhood is usually quiet. And we haven’t experienced any crimes after a year of living here, although, we did get a big scary dog so that makes us feel safer too."
  • "This area was hit hard with forclosures and abandoned homes. Over the past couple years, the homes are filling back up. Some homes are still empty, home prices are in a wide range. Breakins still happening, but not as many as before, not randomly. Some good families, individuals and seniors. Back of neighborhood worse than closer to Blue Ridge. More breakins in back. If someone would help with the few abandoned homes left, then overall neighborhood is looking better. Lots of kids, all ages, some dilinquents. Just need to recognize them. Police good about potaling area and coming pretty quick if needed. I feel this neighborhood will get better and better, if good people continue to move in. It's a mix of every ethnic and lifestyle."
